- Xplore is an all-in-one urban analytics platform that integrates data collection, processing, and visualization within a single digital framework, unifying hardware, software, and advanced data analytics models to acquire and harmonize information from IoT sensors and heterogeneous digital sources. Designed with a scalable and interoperable architecture, Xplore can integrate virtually any type of sensor or metric, enabling continuous and centralized monitoring of urban, environmental, and infrastructural phenomena through a single interface. Data is processed using AI algorithms and data science techniques, allowing the identification of patterns, trends, and anomalies, transforming raw data into actionable insights and value. Results are delivered through an intuitive and interactive interface, based on charts and geographic maps, designed to effectively support decision-making processes. Among the hardware technologies developed is a proprietary IoT sensor for people counting based on Wi-Fi technology. Mobile devices periodically emit signals (probe requests) while searching for nearby networks: the sensor passively intercepts these signals and processes them through advanced deduplication and anonymization techniques, enabling reliable estimation of presence while fully ensuring privacy. This technology is used to analyze and monitor people flows across various application contexts, particularly within smart city environments. Xplore thus enables the transformation of heterogeneous data collected from the territory into operational insights, providing public administrations and private organizations with an effective tool to better understand spatial dynamics and optimize service management. The platform’s value lies in its ability to overcome data fragmentation, often distributed across non-communicating systems, and make it accessible in an integrated way. From an evolutionary perspective, the platform includes the planned integration of a natural language-based chatbot. This feature will allow users to directly query data through simple text inputs, obtaining rapid responses related to specific locations, time ranges, or monitored indicators.
